What Makes Freemasons’ Charity Work So Different?
It’s all about scale. We’re among the biggest charitable donors in the country, giving nearly £51.1 million to various causes in 2020 alone.
Big Impact, Big Partnerships
Our main charity arm, the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), is all about tackling some of society’s biggest challenges—like reducing loneliness in later life and helping kids build bright futures. We team up with well-known charities across the UK to make sure our support reaches the people who need it most.
Medical Research & Disaster Relief
Freemasons also help fund research into serious health issues such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, plus a range of other conditions. When disasters strike—whether at home (like Grenfell Tower) or overseas—we step in with donations and hands-on support.
Rising to the Challenge During COVID
During the pandemic, Freemasons rallied to support their communities in huge ways. From raising money for the NHS and delivering food to vulnerable groups, to buying ambulances and making PPE, our members really came together. We even started the Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund, pooling our resources to help local and national charities weather the crisis—donating a total of £3 million.
In short, our goal is to show up for people when it matters most. By working closely with major charities and supporting vital projects, we’re able to make a real difference in communities across the UK and beyond.
